Hobby and Exercise opportunities

In Lakeaharju's surroundings, there are hobby and exercise opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. In the surroundings of the ski slope, there are hiking trails, shelters, a track base for walking, running, cycling and skiing in winter, a mini golf course, fitness stairs and an observation tower. You can rent a cottage along the Serpentine road and spend an active holiday in the beautiful scenery of Lakeaharju, or just enjoy the holiday and the scenery by the fireplace.

Ski slope

Lakis has excellent conditions for fitness both in winter and summer. Lakis has three slopes and the distance to the longest slope is 750 meters and the height difference is about 90 meters.

There is a double anchor lift on the main slope of Lakis. There is a rope lift at the edge of the right-hand slope, which is suitable for children and beginner snowboarders. On the side of the slope on the left, there is a sledding hill, a slope restaurant and a hut, which can be accessed directly from the slope.

The ski rental office, ticket office and info are in the maintenance building of the lower station.

Vaaran askelmat - fitness stairs

Fitness stairs are popular among local and nearby fitness enthusiasts. There are more than 500 stairs and the climb is well over 60 meters. The stairs were built with the help of the village volunteers in 2020. In the summer of 2022, the first national stair running championships were organized there.

Lakeaharju lookout tower

The lookout tower was built with the assistance of the Lakaniemi-Pokela-Pyhälahti village volunteers in 2019. Funding for the project was received from Aisapari.

The total height of the observation tower is 16 meters. The top platform of the three-story tower is approximately 13.8 meters high. The width of the uppermost platform of the observation tower, which tapers upwards, is 3.2 meters. From the upper platform, there are stunning views over the picturesque Lappajärvi.

Lakis has very challenging slopes in connection with the biathlon center. The track bottom is coated, so it is also suitable for summer training on foot as well as on roller skis and bikes.

In the Vatpakka-Lakeaharju-Luoma-aho area, there are 16 kilometers of renovated outdoor trails, all of which are illuminated. The trail serves skiers in winter, and at other times, the same trails have good opportunities for mountain biking, jogging, and hiking. For more information, visit Vimpeli municipality's website at
